Good lighting does more for a home than most people realize. It changes how a room feels, how safe your property looks at night, and how comfortable your space is to actually live in. Bad lighting — wrong fixtures, poorly placed recessed cans, dim outdoor lights — does the opposite.
At Upgrade Electric, we install all kinds of residential lighting cleanly and correctly. Whether you’re redoing a kitchen, adding outdoor security lights, or just want recessed lighting in a room that’s always felt dark — we handle it. No mess, no guesswork, done right the first time.
I started Upgrade Electric to give homeowners around Fort Mill a reliable option for electrical work that actually holds up. Lighting installation is one of those services that looks simple on the surface but has a lot of ways to go wrong — wrong box for the fixture weight, wiring that isn’t properly secured, outdoor fixtures that aren’t rated for the exposure they’re getting.
We’ve done hundreds of lighting installs across Fort Mill, Indian Land, Clover, Pineville, Rock Hill, and surrounding areas. Every one of them is done to code, cleaned up after, and tested before we leave. That’s just the standard we hold ourselves to.
Every job follows current NEC code and is left cleaner than we found it.
Quality workmanship you can trust — backed by clear communication.
Local owners who answer the phone and stand behind every install.

Lighting installation is one of those jobs where the difference between a good electrician and a careless one shows up immediately. Fixtures that aren’t level. Recessed cans that aren’t evenly spaced. Outdoor lights that fail after one season because they weren’t properly sealed.
We take the time to do it right. That means measuring and planning the layout before cutting any holes, using the correct hardware for every fixture type, and making sure everything works perfectly before we pack up and leave.
Yes. We run new circuits and cut in recessed cans to existing ceilings regularly. We’ll plan the layout with you first so the placement makes sense for the room, then get it done with minimal disruption to your ceiling.
It depends on the scope. Simple fixture swaps typically don’t. New circuits for recessed lighting or outdoor lighting usually do. We’ll tell you upfront what applies to your job and handle the permit if one is needed.
Yes. Outdoor installs need to be done with weatherproof fixtures, proper conduit or direct burial wire where required, and correct junction boxes. We don’t cut corners on outdoor work — shortcuts there show up fast.
Absolutely. Bathroom lighting upgrades are one of the most common installs we do. We’ll assess what you have, talk through what you’re looking for, and get the right fixtures installed safely and correctly.
Yes. When we come out for the estimate, we’re happy to talk through options with you — fixture types, placement, switch configurations. We’re not interior designers, but we’ve done enough of these installs to know what works well and what doesn’t.
